You may already have an ISO 9001 certification for your quality management systems but where significant use is made of a special process like welding. ISO 9001 does not provide the necessary evidence of a company s capability to manufacture products of the required quality. In comparison, ISO 3834 is the gold standard of quality requirements for the fusion welding of metallic materials and applies to manufacturing and maintenance in workshops and field installation/project sites.
ISO 3834 certification boasts a manufacturer’s ability to sell its products in domestic and
international markets. This is because compliance with ISO 3834 provides recognition and assurance of their capabilities and globally recognised welding standards.
A key feature of the ISO 3834 standard is the requirement to ensure that employees with welding responsibilities are competent to discharge those responsibilities. The International Institute of Welding Qualification System is therefore a way to demonstrate your welding staff’s technical knowledge and in so doing boast Irelands’ skills base.
• Cost savings and quality improvements in production.
• Increased national and international business potential.
• Clear, easy to navigate, cost effective, independent verification of compliance by a Notified Body.
• Confirmation of welding and manufacturing capability and its competence.
• Quality management and manufacturing capability assessments carried out by qualified &
recognised assessors.

We can provide an independant of your management system (MS) before and/of after the commencement of the Stage 1 audit of the initial assessment process
First, we gain an understanding of your business to assess whether your documented policy, objectives, continual improvement plans and procedures meet the requirements of MS standard. The readiness of your implementation programme is also assessed.
Then we audit your MS in action, to check that your declared policy, objectives and targets have been effectively communicated, and that your continual improvement plans and procedures are working in practice. Certification is then awarded after successful closures of any outstanding issues.
After you have achieved certification, we undertake regular ongoing audits of your MS to ensure that it is being maintained and that it continues to meet the objectives of your organisation and the expectation of your customers.
The certificate is valid for 3 years. A recertfication audit is conducted on the full MS before the expiry of the certificate.
