These terms apply to the Irish Steel website, member app, member community, membership services, training, events and awards. They supplement any specific booking, certification, sponsorship or membership agreement.
1. About Irish Steel
Irish Steel is the trading name of I.A.S.F. Irish Association of Steel Fabricators Company Limited by Guarantee, company number 657873. References to “Irish Steel”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean that entity.
2. Membership applications and accounts
Applicants must provide accurate, current information and any insurance, certification or supporting material reasonably needed for review. Membership begins only after Irish Steel approves the application and the applicable fees have been paid or agreed.
App and website accounts are personal to the authorised user. Do not share credentials, impersonate another person, scrape the member directory or use member contact information for unsolicited marketing. Tell us promptly if an account or device may have been compromised.
3. Member conduct and community chat
Members must communicate professionally and must not post or transmit:
- unlawful, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, defamatory or deliberately misleading material;
- spam, malware, credential requests or unauthorised commercial solicitation;
- confidential information, personal data or trade secrets that they are not authorised to share;
- content that infringes copyright, trade marks, privacy, publicity or other rights; or
- material that compromises the security or proper operation of the service.
Users can report content, mute conversations and block other members. Irish Steel may investigate reports, remove content, restrict chat access, close a group, suspend an account or revoke membership where reasonably necessary. Group chat is not an emergency or confidential reporting channel.
4. Member information
Member contact information is for legitimate member-to-member and association purposes only. Members choose which optional profile details are visible in the app directory. Irish Steel may publish member and company names, achievements, services and supplied profile materials as part of the member benefits and association activity described when the information was provided. Personal data is handled under the Privacy Notice.
5. Content, logos, photographs and submitted materials
Irish Steel owns or licenses the website, app, Irish Steel branding, layouts and publisher-created material. Company names, member logos, sponsor marks, nominee content and user submissions remain owned by their respective owners.
When you upload, send or submit a logo, photograph, video, audio recording, document, project description, nomination or other material, you confirm that you own it or have authority from the owner and any identifiable people to provide it for the stated Irish Steel purpose. You also confirm that its use will not breach confidentiality, data-protection, intellectual-property or publicity rights.
You grant Irish Steel a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, copy, resize, reformat, display, publish and distribute that material as reasonably needed to operate the website and app, administer membership, provide the member directory, run and promote the Irish Steel Awards, recognise member achievements, deliver the relevant event or programme, and maintain an Irish Steel archive. This licence includes use in Irish Steel web pages, app screens, event material, award publications, email and Irish Steel social channels. It does not transfer ownership to Irish Steel.
Tell hello@irishsteel.ie promptly if supplied material is inaccurate, no longer authorised or should be removed. Irish Steel will assess a request against the relevant agreement, archive, legal obligations and the rights of other people. Irish Steel may remove or decline material at its discretion.
6. Awards, nominations, sponsors and voting
Nominators must be authorised to enter the project or nominee and submit the accompanying images and company marks. Sponsor and partner assets supplied for profile, programme or campaign use are treated as authorised for that purpose under section 5. Irish Steel may verify entries, merge duplicates, correct obvious formatting issues, reject ineligible material and moderate public descriptions.
Awards voting is subject to the rules displayed for the relevant edition. Attempts to vote more than permitted, automate voting, evade eligibility controls or interfere with results may be rejected. Judges' and Irish Steel's decisions are final except where a published correction is required.
7. Bookings, fees and payments
Prices, cancellation terms, tax treatment and availability are shown in the relevant booking or agreement. Membership is not transferable and fees are not refundable except where a specific agreement or law provides otherwise. Online card payments are processed by Stripe; Irish Steel does not store full card details.
8. External links and third-party services
The service may link to member, sponsor, training, map, payment or social-media services. Those services have their own terms. Irish Steel is not responsible for an external service merely because it is linked, but this does not limit responsibility that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Availability and acceptable use
We may maintain, update, replace or withdraw a feature and cannot guarantee uninterrupted availability. Do not probe, bypass or overload security controls; reverse engineer private service interfaces; introduce harmful code; or use the service contrary to law or these terms.
10. Account closure
Members can delete an app account using the in-app deletion flow. App-account deletion does not itself cancel organisational membership, bookings, invoices, certifications or another user's lawful copy of a conversation. See the Privacy Notice for what is deleted and what may need to be retained.
11. Liability and governing law
Irish Steel provides association information and member communication tools, not project-specific legal, engineering, financial or safety advice. Users remain responsible for professional decisions, compliance and checking source material. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under Irish law.
These terms are governed by Irish law, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights that apply.
12. Changes and contact
We may update these terms when services, membership rules or law change. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate. Continued use after the effective date means the current terms apply to that use; a separate agreement will continue to govern where it expressly overrides these terms.
