This policy explains how I.A.S.F. Irish Association of Steel Fabricators Company Limited by Guarantee, trading as Irish Steel, uses cookies and similar browser storage on irishsteel.ie. It applies to the public website and browser-based member services. The Irish Steel mobile app is covered by the Privacy Notice and does not use browser cookies for its native features.
1. What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small text records that a website or service can store in your browser. This site also uses local storage, which lets the browser remember a setting without sending it with every request. We use the term “cookies” below to cover both where the distinction does not affect your choice.
2. Your choice
Necessary storage is used to provide requested features, protect forms, keep authorised sessions secure and remember your privacy choice. It cannot be switched off through our banner. Google Analytics is optional and does not load unless you select Accept Analytics or enable it in Manage Preferences.
You can reject analytics without losing access to the public website. You can also change your choice at any time from Privacy Choices. Withdrawing consent stops future analytics loading and removes the Google Analytics cookies that Irish Steel can clear from this domain.
3. Storage used by Irish Steel
| Name or category | Purpose | When used |
|---|---|---|
cookie-consent | Local-storage record of whether analytics was accepted or rejected, the policy version and the date of the choice. | Necessary; stored after you make a choice. |
| Authentication and security records | Keep a signed-in browser session secure, preserve a requested workflow and prevent abuse. | Necessary; only when the relevant account, form or protected feature is used. |
_ga and _ga_* | Distinguish website visits and produce aggregate Google Analytics reports about how the public site is used. | Optional; created only after analytics consent. |
Cookie lifetimes can change when a provider updates its service or when you clear browser data. The consent record remains until it is cleared or replaced by a later policy version. Google Analytics cookies normally remain for up to two years unless you withdraw consent or clear them sooner.
4. Services used on particular pages
- Cloudflare Turnstile: used on protected forms and sign-in flows to distinguish legitimate use from automated abuse. Its security processing is necessary for those features.
- Stripe: loaded when you use a card-payment flow. Stripe may use necessary fraud-prevention and payment cookies under its own privacy information.
- Google Maps: some contact and member pages contain an embedded map. Loading the map sends technical information to Google. You can use the listed address without interacting with the map.
- YouTube: videos use YouTube's privacy-enhanced domain and are loaded when you choose to play them. YouTube may then receive technical and usage information.
Links to LinkedIn, Facebook, YouTube, Google Maps and other external websites do not themselves place those services' cookies through Irish Steel. The external service may process information after you follow the link, under its own notice.
5. Advertising and cross-site tracking
Irish Steel does not enable advertising storage or use website visitors' data for behavioural advertising through this site. The Irish Steel member app does not track users across other companies' apps or websites.
6. Browser controls and contact
Most browsers let you inspect, block or delete cookies and local storage. Blocking necessary storage may prevent sign-in, payment, form-security or preference features from working. Browser settings apply separately on each browser and device.
For more information about how personal data is handled, read the Privacy Notice. Questions can be sent to hello@irishsteel.ie.
