OMC Technologies was commissioned to design, manufacture, and install 670 bespoke furniture units for the cleanroom facilities of a Cell Therapy manufacturing plant located within a leading Bioscience Park in the Netherlands. The project involved the design and production of a wide range of custom Grade 316 stainless steel furniture, incorporating European Schuko power outlets and integrated data connections to support critical cleanroom operations. In addition, OMC Technologies supplied and installed 79 utility poles complete with certified compressed air and gas distribution services, providing essential infrastructure throughout the facility.
The Story
OMC Technologies was awarded the challenging contract to design, manufacture, and deliver 670 furniture units and utility poles to the Netherlands within a six-month programme.
A collaborative design process was established between the client and OMC's engineering and fabrication teams to rapidly develop, review, and approve bespoke furniture designs, ensuring production timelines could be achieved without compromising quality or compliance requirements.
The project required the procurement and processing of substantial quantities of high-grade materials, including:
• 1,200 sheets of Grade 316 stainless steel polished to a 320-grit finish.
• 3,000 metres of 50 x 50 mm stainless steel SHS, also polished to a 320-grit finish.
• Thousands of European Schuko power sockets and data outlets for integration into workstations and furniture assemblies.
One of the key challenges was the compressed manufacturing schedule, which demanded exceptional planning, coordination, and production efficiency. Through careful project management and the dedication of our fabrication team, all items were successfully manufactured and delivered within the required timeframe.
All furniture and utility poles were manufactured at OMC Technologies' facility on Ballysimon Road, Limerick. Prior to dispatch, every item underwent a rigorous quality assurance process, including detailed inspections of fabrication welds, surface finishing, and chemical cleaning, ensuring compliance with the stringent standards required for cleanroom environments and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities.
Project Highlights
• 670 bespoke cleanroom furniture units designed and manufactured.
• 79 utility poles supplied and installed with certified air and gas services.
• Grade 316 stainless steel construction throughout.
• Integrated Schuko power outlets and data connectivity.
• 1,200 stainless steel sheets and 3,000 metres of polished SHS processed.
• Delivered and installed within a six-month programme.
• Manufactured, inspected, and quality-assured in-house at OMC Technologies, Limerick.
Why It Should Win
This project is deserving as it was required on site in a very tight schedule, logistics played a big part in meeting our deadlines. The cleanroom furniture was manufactured and polished to a very high standard and due to the amount of off site manufacturing in our workshops, including wiring of all electrics, installation of air connections and piping etc, the cleanroom furniture, when delivered was ready to enter the production lines, saving time and money for our client.
