Who Should Nominate
Fabricators of cantilevered and propped balconies, terraces and access walkways, the steelwork that extends a building outdoors.
Eligibility
Open to all Irish Steel members. You can nominate your own company or another member, and you can enter more than one category — just submit each entry separately.
Entries should be based on work that was completed or significantly progressed between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2026. A handful of categories don't specify a time window — when in doubt, get in touch.
What Judges Look For
Each entry is reviewed by our judging panel. For finished projects, judges weigh:
- Quality of the end result
- Innovation and technical execution
- Project complexity and scale
- Collaboration with suppliers and clients
- Uniqueness
Submission Requirements
Every submission needs:
- A short project summary (50 words)
- The story of the project (800–1,000 words) — what you built, how you solved problems, the materials and techniques, the operational excellence, innovation and technology involved
- A strong case for why it deserves to win (up to 500 words)
- At least two high-quality images (up to five allowed)
- Your company logo in PNG format

Ballymastone: Delivering Complex Balcony Solutions for Glenveagh's Flagship Development

At Glenveagh's flagship Ballymastone development, Extreme Balconies delivered 142 balconies incorporating cantilevered, supported, L-shaped, Juliet and long-span balcony solutions. This project delivered high-precision, architectural balcony and terrace railings for a modern multi-unit residential development. Fabricated to strict CE standards (BS EN 1090-2 EXC2) with a hot-dip galvanized and powder coated finish, the sleek vertical-bar system flawlessly unifies robust structural integrity with a clean, striking aesthetic across continuous terrace elevations.

The Griffin Point project is located at the former Columban missionary site in Donaghmede. The project, worth €102m, provides much-needed homes for the Dublin region, with a total of 410 apartments, a childcare facility, and associated residential amenity areas.
Mill Road: Ireland's First Offsite Manufactured Ground Floor Balcony System
Extreme Balconies
Extreme Balconies delivered 159 fully assembled balconies for Cairn Homes at Mill Road, including Ireland’s first offsite manufactured ground floor balcony system. Manufactured and assembled across our Newcastle and Clane facilities, the project significantly reduced site labour, eliminated site welding and achieved exceptional quality throughout.
Modular Balconies, Cherry Lane, Ashbourne
McMenamin Engineering
McMenamin Engineering designed, manufactured and installed 30no. modular cantilevered balconies with glass balustrades at Cherry Lane, Ashbourne, Co. Meath. The bespoke steel, aluminium glass balustrade balconies were prefabricated off-site and delivered a minimalist, floating aesthetic while meeting all structural safety requirements.
