Who Should Nominate
Steel fabricators behind sheds and portal-frame buildings: agricultural sheds, industrial units, workshops, warehousing and storage buildings.
Eligibility
Open to all Irish Steel members. You can nominate your own company or another member, and you can enter more than one category — just submit each entry separately.
Entries should be based on work that was completed or significantly progressed between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2026. A handful of categories don't specify a time window — when in doubt, get in touch.
What Judges Look For
Each entry is reviewed by our judging panel. For finished projects, judges weigh:
- Quality of the end result
- Innovation and technical execution
- Project complexity and scale
- Collaboration with suppliers and clients
- Uniqueness
Submission Requirements
Every submission needs:
- A short project summary (50 words)
- The story of the project (800–1,000 words) — what you built, how you solved problems, the materials and techniques, the operational excellence, innovation and technology involved
- A strong case for why it deserves to win (up to 500 words)
- At least two high-quality images (up to five allowed)
- Your company logo in PNG format

Designed to maximise natural daylight while reducing solar heat gain, the project provides a durable, comfortable and energy-efficient environment for livestock, helping to improve animal welfare and farm productivity.
John Mooney Shed
Marcus P Graham Ironworks
MGI successfully detailed and erected the structural steelwork for the Mooney agricultural building. Modeled in Tekla, the robust, portal-frame structure utilizes precision-engineered UB and SHS sections. The project showcases efficient on-site assembly, providing a durable and functional space designed to meet rigorous industrial structural standards.
UCD Lyons Dairy Calf Education and Research Facility
Dungarvan Precision Engineering
Fabricated a Portal Frame Unit 38.2m long in 6 No. bays by 21.1m wide by 4.8m high at eaves. The unit will be standing on 2no. lines of stanchions. Roof sheeted in 0.6mm agribild cladding, curragh green in colour including 2 No. safe span Perspex’s per bay with a metal ridge flashing fitted at apex. Yorkshire boarding double skin fitted on both sides and both gables sheeted to the walls as per drawing. less 11no. door opes. Barges & flashings supplied and fitted to match the cladding plus 2 No. runs of 152mm box galvanised box gutters, with 4 No. stacks of grey wavin down pipes. Supply and fit 5 No. sliding doors, running on single track system with all necessary running gear. Includes door guides, handles, drop bolts and stock board fitted 1.2m up from the bottom of each door.
