The Story
Irish Door Systems – Project Overview: Paul Sheeran Jewellers, Chatham Street, Dublin Irish Door Systems (IDS) was proud to deliver the full glazing package for Paul Sheeran Jewellers in collaboration with Roccol. Situated in Dublin city centre, the project required high-security performance, precision engineering, and exceptional coordination in a busy urban setting.
IDS designed, fabricated, and installed a bespoke Schüco Jansen Janisol insulated steel framed glazing system, certified to Resistance Class 3 (RC3) under ENV1627 standards. It incorporated 33mm thick P6B double-glazed security glass to meet the stringent protection needs of a luxury retail environment.
Frames were finished in Interpon D2525 Matt X-Pro – Anodic Bronze (Y2214F), a Qualicoat Class 2 and GSB-approved coating known for its superior UV resistance and long-term colour retention. Complex City Centre Installation With limited access and high pedestrian volumes, IDS coordinated logistics with Dublin City Council and developed a detailed safety plan.
Key actions included: Dismantling oversized panes from the existing façade Installing new bullet-resistant glass using spider cranes and glazing robots Achieving millimetre accuracy with suction lifters Managing just-in-time deliveries with a qualified banksman On-site waste removal and disposal of existing structures Collaboration & Execution IDS provided full technical drawings and worked closely with Roccol and the wider team to ensure integration with the architectural intent.
The project reflects IDS’s ability to deliver secure, high-performance glazing systems in restricted urban environments—combining technical precision, logistical planning, and a flawless finish for one of Ireland’s most prestigious retail clients.
"Irish Door Systems (IDS) is proud to submit its work on the Paul Sheeran Jewellers project for the Irish Steel Awards. Located on Chatham Street in Dublin city centre, this high-profile project demanded precision design, expert fabrication, and seamless execution under complex site constraints. IDS was commissioned to design, manufacture, and install a bespoke Schüco Jansen Janisol insulated steel framed glazing system. Rated RC3 under ENV1627, the system features 33mm-thick P6B double-glazed security glass—offering high clarity and advanced protection, essential for a premium retailer handling high-value stock. All steel profiles were manufactured in-house and finished in Interpon D2525 X-Pro Anodic Bronze, a Qualicoat Class 2 powder coating selected for its long-term UV stability, durability, and colour retention—perfectly complementing the luxury aesthetic of the Paul Sheeran brand. City-centre installation presented major challenges. IDS carefully removed large existing glazing, secured council permits, and coordinated all deliveries within tight time slots. Advanced spider cranes and glazing robots enabled the safe installation of oversized, bullet-resistant glass to millimetre precision, without disruption to nearby businesses. Working closely with Roccol, local authorities, and the client, IDS delivered the project ahead of schedule—ensuring the jeweller could open in time for the critical Christmas trading period. This project exemplifies IDS’s ability to combine security, aesthetics, and technical excellence. The resulting steel and glass façade reinforces the exclusivity of the brand, while showcasing Irish engineering and fabrication at its best."
