Standing 850Tn on top of 8m high 600mm thick mass concrete walls has its own difficulties but pairing that with a C5 Corrosivity Environment added to the care our team takes when handling steelwork on site. When you take on a project with 9000No Members all with 140 microns of Galv on them, it is a challange but one we succeeded with. Having Shannonside as a partner with us paid dividends especially handling 18.3m bridge beams, which only a few can HDG in ireland to the spec required.

The Story

The Regional Biosolids Storage Facility is a facility for the storage of treated biosolids produced from wastewater treatment plants in greater Dublin. The new biosolids storage facility will form a key part of the upgraded wastewater treatment network for greater Dublin and will facilitate its continued social and economic growth while protecting the environment.

Contracted by Ward & Burke on behalf of Uisce Éireann, we Fabricated, Hot Dipped Galvanised & Erected 850Tn of Structural Steel. This project was demanding in terms of treatment of Steel. Being a C5 environment, which is the highest corrosivity category , we required to take great care in the galavinsing, transportation & erection sequence to avoid any damage on the steelwork.

The Galvanising required no less then 140microns which Shannonside Galvanising Plant took care of. There was no steel allowed on the project less then 6mm thickness meaning all secondary supports required for the Cladding needed to be Hot rolled members, including the HD Bolts and Steel to Steel Bolts.

M62 Motorway Bridge Replacement, UK

Murphy International

The MVN2/48A M62 Bridge Replacement project is a standout example of what true collaboration can achieve. From concept to delivery in under 12 months, it brought together engineering ambition, programme constraint, and aligned teamwork. At preliminary design stage in September 2023, the bridge was fully designed, fabricated, and installed within a year. The 42-metre structure, comprising 70-tonne girders, was fully assembled off-site and installed with millimetre precision over one of the UK’s b

The Forge (Walls) Mechanical Engineering

This project is part of a wider initiative for making Irish railway services more accessible to all users, including disability users who require extra services to use the rail facilities. The new infrastructure provides ease of access to the station and its services for all types of users. The initiative undertaken by the client may lead to other sectors adapting and upgrading their services to include access for disability users. Transport, like any other product/service should be accessible f
