The Story
The project is one of many we have done for Duffy's circus, they have been a customer of Tara Steel & Engineering for over 30 years and each project that they bring us is always something different and exciting. This project was no different. We were approached by Duffy's with an trailer and an idea.
They told us what they had in mind and based on there idea we designed it as best we could from there information. We gave them a drawing of what we had in mind after a little bit of redesign we all agreed on what was needed. The first step was to make an aluminum skeleton that could be lifted onto and secured to a trailer.
Once that was complete Duffy's brought it back to there yard to clad it and fit the electrics. They then brought it back to our yard we then had to fit doors to it that also acted as access ramps again it had to be made from aluminum to keep the weight down but also had to be able to take a heavy load. We used aluminum SHS for the frame and checker plate for the floor.
we then had to make removable railings for edge protection which needed to be sturdy and look the part, We used mirror polished tube to make the railings that sat into a sleeve that we cut out of the ramp.

From a hand sketch to a finished project all staff involved put in there best effort and it shows in the quality of the product. Also the Duffy family also deserve credit for it. It was a really clever design incorporating the Celtic patterns, writings in English, Irish & French. Designed to be prominent but not overstated, this piece will be viewed by thousands of visitors every year to Britany. It had to be something that symbolised Ireland and what better way than through music and culture.
