The Story

David Brady is a local business owner in the Arklow area, with a passion for American vintage cars. Through discussions in project meetings with David, we harnessed his request to crystalise the vision he had for the project.

The goal was to replicate the production of this vintage vehicle to its glorious and rich past.

David procured a 1939 Ford COE( cab over engine) truck, on a U-haul chassis. This acronym has been applied to trucks for many decades. The body style of the truck, has a vertical front, "flat face" or a semi-hood, with the cab of the truck sitting above (or forward of) the front axle.

Ford embraced the production of COE trucks in the 1930s with great vigor in their factories.

This classic vehicle would be transformed by the completion end of the restoration project. The conversion process would be all-engrossing for all those involved. This would be the case of looking to deliver on David’s plan through our vision of how to implement this project and ultimately exceed even the client's lofty aspirations.

David has subsequently opened his doors in his personal museum in Arklow displaying several of his beloved vehicles including this project submission.

Admission is free and open to the general public to come in and marvel at all the classic vehicles on display and be transported back to an era in time when these vehicles graced many a road.

The Ford COE is now mounted on a modern U- haul chassis. Our part of the project would be to construct the non-cabin aspects of the project to fully complement the restored cabin. David would then connect with a restoration expert for the work on the cabin aspect of the project to merge with our representation. This symbiotic relationship fully delivered on our client's intentions to create a period vintage vehicle from that era

Why It Should Win

The project required an ability to decipher the expectations and goals of our clients and filter this into an executable vision from a design/ fabrication and installation perspective.

The project required intricate planning for such a unique project and for all those involved to understand succinctly the nuances of the task at hand and the ultimate successful outcome by following a detailed project guideline.

The work undertaken involved concentration and a skill set to delicately follow each step of the project. Finesse was required at each juncture and strict adherence to quality and implementation at all parts of the process.

On completion of the project, it was clear to us our work complemented the restoration work on the cabin to combine into a beautifully crafted period piece for the Ford 1939 COE.

We take great satisfaction in being involved in such a unique proposal and its ultimate outcome.
