Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant
Southwest Marine Ltd T/A Southwest Engineering
Finalist in: Pipe Fabrication & Installation
The Story
We fabricated over 50 artic loads of grade 1.4432 stainless steel pipes for our client Ward & Burke as part of the Ringsend Wastewater Treatment Plant upgrade works. Ringsend is the largest wastewater treatment plant in Ireland and when upgraded will be capable of treating a population equivalent of 2 million people.
We worked collaboratively with Ward and Burke to plan and fabricate hundreds of pipe spools off site and deliver them on programme to keep up with the site installation. All welding procedures, quality control and non-destructive testing were carried out in our workshop to meet the strict quality requirements specified due to the harsh environmental conditions on site.
Pipe diameters ranged from 1.25" (DN32) to 56" (DN1400) metric tube, with most of the pipework being 32" (DN800) or larger.
Why It Should Win
Southwest Engineering worked closely with our client Ward and Burke, and Irish Water's representatives 3JV (JB Barrys, TJ O'Connors, RH DHV) to ensure that the critical pipework deliveries were achieved on time and that an important section of the largest wastewater treatment plant in Ireland, serving the whole of the Greater Dublin area can be delivered on programme.
