The Story
Aurivo Dairy Ingredients in Ballaghaderreen was built in 1971 and has developed into a leading international dairy ingredient business today, processing 500 million litres of milk annually and employs 100 people on the site. Aurivo Dairy in Ballaghdreen needed an extension onto their building. Thew new extension needed a new Evaporator Tower, along with a new platform, stairs, ladders, and Railings. Ryan Structural steel fabricated and erected the new tower.
Why It Should Win
I think this project deserves to win the IASF award because a lot of time went into the erection of this project. Since we were extending one part of building on to an older part of the building, the new tower had to be slotted in between two buildings. This made it difficult to get all the steel components into the building. We did the tower in two stages. We erected the bottom stage within the building. The second stage was erected outside the building and then we lifted the 54T tower on to the bottom part of tower. We had to work closely with the other contractors and suppliers to make sure everything was timed perfectly.
We did all the cladding in different stages as the building was erected. We needed to make sure that some of the contractors could still get in and around the cladding. While also trying to get the roof cladding on certain parts to protect the new machinery that was being installed into the building.
