OMC Technologies | Stainless Steel Balustrades, Brian Ború Bridge, Co. Clare
A new bridge crossing the River Shannon was opened recently by the Minister for Transport. It will greatly improve the quality of life for residents of both towns and has been widely welcomed.
It has ten viewing platforms at each of its five piers, along with wide pedestrian and cycle ways. OMC were appointed by John Sisk & Son to supply polished stainless steel balustrades to both sides of the new Brian Boru Bridge.
OMC also supplied balustrade to all lookouts along the bridge, seating benches, gates and handrails.
The balustrade was a high polished finish manufactured from 316 Grade stainless steel. Approximately 400m of balustrade was installed along the bridge walkways. 100m of viewing platform balustrade along with viewing area benches and handrails to steps. Balustrades of that length must be carefully designed to allow for expansion.
All welding was to the highest level and inspected by both county councils. This was a unique project and the first bridge crossing in 40 years.
We believe this stainless steel balustrade is worthy of winning for its craftmanship, welding, polishing and attention to detail. Its a striking balustrade 400m long expertly crafted and really enhances the new Brian Boru Bridge crossing the River Shannon. This balustrade will be a focal point for tourists using the bridge and for boat enthusiasts on the Shannon.
