Industrial Engineering – Construction Projects
Did your integrated team’s steel construction project successfully revolutionise a client’s production line, seamlessly integrate cutting-edge automation, or dramatically boost industrial efficiency and optimise material flow within a complex manufacturing or processing facility?
This award honours truly transformative industrial projects where intelligently designed and robustly constructed steelwork forms the backbone of enhanced operational success. It recognises the crucial collaborative effort of diverse teams – including process engineers, project managers, specialist steel fabricators, and expert installers – in developing and implementing innovative solutions. This includes everything from sophisticated automation support frameworks and meticulously engineered conveying systems to complete production line steel structures that demonstrably improve performance, safety, and output for the end-user.
Who should nominate?
Lead industrial contractors, specialist steel fabrication firms focused on industrial applications, system integrators deploying automation within steel frameworks, and engineering companies who have demonstrably led or made a critical contribution to constructing innovative, steel-based industrial projects that deliver significant and measurable enhancements in production capabilities, automation integration, plant safety, or material handling efficiency.
Eligibility & Key considerations
Your work on the nominated industrial construction project must have been completed, commissioned, or a major operational phase brought online between 1st July 2023 and 30th June 2025.
The principal steelwork must have been produced by a registered business based on the island of Ireland (though the final commissioned plant location can be outside Ireland).
Entries must clearly showcase exceptional workmanship and attention to quality in a demanding industrial environment. Detail the proficiency in designing and fabricating bespoke steelwork tailored to specific industrial processes (e.g., supporting heavy loads, vibration dampening, hygiene standards). Emphasise technical precision, the innovative use of steel to solve operational challenges, adherence to all relevant industry standards and safety protocols for industrial sites, and the positive impact on the client’s operational efficiency and overall business, thereby enhancing your company’s reputation for excellence in this specialist construction area.
What the Judges are looking for
Quality and robustness of the end results within the specific industrial setting; Tangible Innovation and clever Technical Execution in the design, fabrication, and integration of steel elements to meet operational needs; Project Complexity, the scale of the industrial challenge, and the degree of optimisation achieved through the steel solution; Effective Collaboration with clients, equipment suppliers, specialist process engineers, automation providers, and the entire construction and commissioning delivery team; Uniqueness of the solution in genuinely enhancing industrial performance, safety, or output.
Submission Requirements
- Nomination Type
- Business Name
- Project Title (e.g., “[Client Name] New Production Line Steelwork” or “[Facility] Automated Storage & Retrieval System Structure”)
- Project Location & Industrial Sector
- Project Team (Essential where available): Comprehensive details for: End Client/Operator; Process Design Engineer; Lead Project Management Firm/Individual; Main Contractor (if applicable); Specialist Steelwork Contractor/Fabricator; Automation/Equipment Integrator; M&E Engineers; Specialist Installation Crews. Define each specific role.
- Project Summary (max 50 words)
- Full Project Description (max 1,000 words): Tell us the story of the project. Include details such as explaining the client’s operational brief/challenge, the key steel structures designed and built, specific design considerations (e.g., loads, access, future-proofing), fabrication techniques for industrial suitability, complex installation sequences (especially in existing facilities), and the quantifiable benefits delivered (e.g., increased throughput, reduced downtime, improved safety).
- Why Should It Win?
- Project Images (min 2, max 5 high-quality – showcasing the steel in its industrial context, and its integration with machinery/processes)
- Company Logo (PNG)
- Optional: Client testimonials focusing on operational improvements, process flow diagrams (before/after), short videos of the system in operation.
