Constructional Steelwork – Buildings
Have you and your collaborative team shaped Ireland’s skyline or its working landscape with an exceptional industrial, residential, commercial, airport, or agricultural steel building that stands as a testament to quality and innovation?
This prestigious award celebrates the collective vision, meticulous engineering prowess, and superior construction skill behind Ireland’s finest steelwork in buildings. It recognises projects where the inherent strength, functional versatility, and architectural potential of Irish steel are maximised through exemplary teamwork and shared expertise. We seek to honour how inspired architectural design, precision structural engineering, skilled fabrication by dedicated people, and expert on-site erection converge to create structures that are not only fit-for-purpose but also enduring landmarks of quality and collaborative achievement across all building sectors.
Who should nominate?
Steel fabricators, principal construction contractors, innovative engineering consultancies, and visionary architectural firms who have played a demonstrably pivotal role in collaboratively delivering remarkable steel building structures.
Eligibility & Key considerations
Your work on the nominated building project must have been completed or significantly progressed (e.g., frame erected and substantial work advanced) between 1st July 2023 and 30th June 2025.
The steelwork must have been predominantly produced by a registered steel fabrication business based on the island of Ireland (though the final erected location of the building can be outside of Ireland).
Entries must compellingly detail the collaborative journey, from initial design concepts involving architects and engineers, through rigorous value engineering and meticulous workshop fabrication, to safe and efficient on-site erection by the site teams. Showcase exceptional workmanship, innovative problem-solving (technical or logistical), unwavering adherence to complex industry standards and specifications, and the project’s overall positive impact and distinguished quality.
What the Judges are looking for
Quality of end results (finish, accuracy, client satisfaction); Innovation and Technical Execution (in design, fabrication, or erection methods); Project Complexity (challenges overcome); Collaboration with suppliers, clients, and the entire project delivery team (architects, engineers, main contractor, specialist sub-contractors etc.); Uniqueness (of design or solution).
Submission Requirements
- Nomination Type (Own company or another member)
- Business Name
- Project Title (Ensure it’s approved for public release)
- Project Location (Full address or general location/county/country)
- Project Team (Essential where available): Provide comprehensive details for: Lead Architect/Architectural Firm; Lead Structural Engineer/Engineering Consultancy; Main Contractor; Steelwork Contractor/Fabricator; Steel Erector (if different); Key specialist sub-contractors or consultants (e.g., façade engineer, fire engineer if steel related); Project Management Team; Quantity Surveyor. Please specify roles clearly for each.
- Project Summary (max 50 words): A clear, concise, and impactful overview.
- Full Project Description (max 1,000 words): Tell us the story of the project. Include details such as the client’s brief, design philosophy, structural challenges, the steel solution chosen and why, fabrication process highlights, erection methodology, how collaboration was managed, any innovations, and specific sustainability or safety measures incorporated into the steel package.
- Why Should It Win? Focus on what makes this project exceptional: the results, originality, problem-solving, technical excellence, sustainability features, collaborative success, or real-world impact.
- Project Images: A minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 high-quality images (JPEG/PNG), showcasing the steel structure during erection and in its completed state, as well as any particularly innovative or complex details.
