Initiatives – Energy & Sustainability
Are you demonstrably leading the charge in adopting truly green practices, championing significant energy efficiencies, and promoting genuine environmental stewardship within our industry?
This award honours companies that have made outstanding, measurable efforts to improve their overall environmental performance and significantly enhance sustainability within their operations, products, and wider influence. This includes tangible efficiency gains in the use of raw materials, energy, or water; the successful adoption of cleaner technologies; development of demonstrably greener products or processes; improved waste management and recycling rates; or significant contributions to national/global sustainability targets such as Net Zero emissions or increased renewable energy usage.
Who should nominate?
Any company (fabrication or fabrication-related support) that have actively and effectively worked to improve their environmental footprint and promote sustainability, with clear results and a forward-thinking approach.
Eligibility & Key considerations
Your energy/sustainability initiative(s) and its impact must have been actively demonstrated or significantly progressed between 1st July 2023 and 30th June 2025.
Entrants must be registered fabrication or fabrication-related support businesses based on the island of Ireland.
Entries must clearly showcase industry-leading policies, procedures, or technological investments that deliver a positive and verifiable impact on the company’s environmental reputation and operational sustainability. Detail efficiency savings (e.g., reduction in kWh/tonne of steel, m3 of water saved, % waste recycled), the adoption of specific clean technologies or circular economy principles, the development of verifiably greener products or services, or contributions towards broader commitments like Net Zero emissions by 2050 or the Irish Government’s renewable energy targets.
What the Judges are looking for
Innovation and Excellence (in sustainable solutions, approach, and tangible results); Collaboration (with employees, suppliers, clients, environmental bodies); Strategic Planning (clear targets, investment, monitoring); Teamwork (in implementing sustainable practices); Training and upskilling (in environmental management/awareness); Good management (of environmental aspects and impacts); Positive Community or Client Impact (e.g., offering more sustainable solutions, reducing local impact); Measurable Sustainability Performance (data-backed improvements).
